Tea ceremony at a table in Osaka

The second part, “Table Tea Ceremony,” also ended with a wave of emotion.
A mindful moment to quietly face oneself in a space with a night view…✨
Thank you very much to everyone who participated.
We are truly grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime encounter.

Today’s matcha was “Haru Kasumi,” a limited edition tea from Kyoto’s Marukyu Koyamaen (@marukyu.koyamaen_official) 🍵
The sweets were “Iris,” a type of Nerikiri cake from Himeji’s long-established Iseya Honten (@iseyahonten.himeji), in honor of the Boys’ Festival 🌿
The tools were a Wajima-nuri teacup and tea scoop, and a Kenzan-style tea bowl “Take,” and we cherished the May setting.

I hope that it was a time when the gentle southern breeze gently enveloped our hearts, just like the Zen phrase “Kunpu Jinanrai.”

I hope we can have tea time like this together in Europe someday.

And I hope that kimono friends will spread all over the world.

Let’s Connect with Kimono Friends Around the World!
Thank you very much to everyone who attended the “Kimono Tea Party” held on May 6 at the ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel in Osaka.

We were lucky with the weather and were able to take pictures along the Dojima River without being rained on.
We had a dreamy time surrounded by everyone’s gorgeous kimonos and smiling faces.

We were happy to be able to express our gratitude directly to those we met for the first time, to those who came from far away, and to everyone who has always supported us.

I can only express my gratitude to Ms. Aya Aya @ayaayaskimono for coming as a guest.
Thanks to her students, Miki-san @kimono.blossom.ch and Kaoru-san who live in Switzerland.
@kambe1960, to say nothing of the many thanks we owe to them,
I realize that this event is possible thanks to many people. 🙏

Teachers from Table Style Tea Ceremony Tsubaki no Kai @tsubakinokai
also came, thank you so much 🙏.
Rika sensei @rika.hanaoka
Rinko sensei @kimonorei0519
Yuki sensei @kimono_sweets_lover
Misa sensei @kimono_misa

I hope this wonderful relationship will continue.

I hope to see you in kimono in Europe someday.
And I hope to make kimono friends all over the world.

I sincerely look forward to seeing you again.

Tokyo Afternoon Tea Tea Party Day 2, January 2025 with Miyoko Otomo.

🌸✨ [Tokyo Afternoon Tea Gathering – Day 2] ✨🌸

Blessed with perfect kimono weather, the second day of the Tokyo Afternoon Tea Gathering was successfully concluded!
Following the first day, we were delighted to have Miyoko Ōmomo, a well-known talent, join us again for another wonderful time. ✨
We sincerely appreciate her taking the time to be with us despite her busy schedule.

Just like the first day, many wonderful people gathered, making the atmosphere even more vibrant and warm.
We were so comfortable that, before we knew it, we had spent nearly five hours in the lounge! ☕✨

✨ A Special Moment on This Day ✨

On this special day, we had the honor of awarding a certification to Yuki Sugawara, who had been learning Table Style Tea Ceremony online! 🎉
After dedicating so much time to practice and receiving video guidance, she finally reached this milestone through her continuous efforts.

Sharing this emotional moment with everyone truly warmed my heart. ✨
Table Style Tea Ceremony is gaining popularity as a casual way to enjoy tea, even without tatami or a traditional Japanese room.
It is also highly appreciated by people worldwide, and I am more determined than ever to continue sharing this beautiful culture. 🌏💚

🌿 Now Accepting New Students for Table Tea Ceremony! 🌿

Beginners are more than welcome!
Even if you have no prior experience, you will learn how to prepare tea step by step, just like Yuki did. 🍵✨
If you’re interested, feel free to send me a DM!

🙏 Heartfelt Gratitude to All 🙏

A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us.
I truly appreciate each and every one of you. ✨
May these wonderful connections continue to flourish.

I will also be posting about my work as a sushi chef in Switzerland and kimono-related photos at @sushi_yoko_com.
Be sure to check out my stories and posts!
Your follows & likes mean a lot and keep me motivated! 🙏 @sushi_yoko_kimono

Tokyo Afternoon Tea Tea Party Day 1

Tokyo Afternoon Tea Tea Party Day 1

The first day of our Afternoon Tea Gathering at the lounge of the Tokyo Royal Park Hotel has successfully concluded, thanks to everyone’s support.

First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our special guest, Miyoko Ōmomo, an executive coach. ✨

I have always resonated with her words: “Live for the present, not just for the future.”

True to her philosophy, she listened attentively to everyone’s stories and brightened up the atmosphere, for which I am truly grateful.

Our gathering began under the refreshing sunlight and progressed into the evening, bathed in the glow of a breathtaking sunset.

After enjoying a relaxed conversation at the hotel’s executive floor lounge, we moved to a quiet private room, where we prepared tea with the night view of Tokyo Tower in the background.

That small act of making tea transformed our time from a simple “chat session” into a deeper, heartfelt exchange.

In our daily lives, we are constantly occupied with work and household tasks. Amidst our busy thoughts, the opportunity to quietly prepare tea together in the heart of Tokyo with such wonderful people became, for me, a moment of mindfulness—a luxurious time to return to the present and regain inner peace.

I wonder if each participant also found it to be a valuable time?
I sincerely appreciate every single person who shared this wonderful moment with us.

May our connections continue for many years to come.

The first World Matcha Forum

We are proud of our Japanese culture with long and rich heritage through our parents and being born in Japan. Each day we spend our lives in Switzerland, we appreciate what we have inherited.
What if we are taking our heritage for granted and it is actually on the verge of extinction?
We would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in the Noto Peninsula earthquake in January 2024, and our thoughts and prayers are with the individuals and communities who were affected by the natural disaster.
Disaster recovery around Wajima city has not progressed much.
We would like to dedicate our first World Matcha Forum to the Wajima lacquerware community.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to “Wajima Lacquerware Industry Association”, and we would like to encourage all who would like to support the recovery of the lacquerware association to participate in this event.
We will publish the details of donation after the event.
[Event] World Matcha Forum – Collection of Noto Earthquake recovery funds
[Language] English
[Location] Online (Zoom)
[Date & Time] Saturday, 19 October 2024 at 15:00 CET
[Tickets] https://world-matcha-forum.peatix.com/
Early discount is available until 31 July for JPY 2,500. There is a limited number. Once the discount tickets are sold out, the tickets will be available at JPY 3,000.
In addition, we would like to host such Matcha events annually and for at least 10 years.
This is a great opportunity for us to give back to the communities, meet new kimono friends and foster personal growth at the same time. We would like to make this an enjoyable annual event and looking forward to your participation.
Incidentally, the name “World Matcha Forum” takes after the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland 😄

[Agenda]
– Short introduction of the hosts
– Objectives of the event
– Why we are hosting the event
*Feeling guilty of playing ignorant, just like an SEP, “something we can’t see, or don’t see, or our brain doesn’t let us see, because we think that it’s Somebody Else’s Problem. (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy)” while earthquakes continue to erupt frequently in Japan
It is not unexpected for an earthquake to erupt, it can happen anywhere in Japan
*What is the current situation after the Noto earthquake?
*Very little progress on disaster recovery
*We’d like to collect recovery funds and donate to Wajima Lacquerware Industry Association
– Quiz “Matcha and Wajima lacquerware”
History of Wajima Lacquerware
– Short lecture on “how to serve flavorful matcha for guests”
– Moment of silence “Prayers to the deceased and hopes for the continuation of Wajima lacquerware activities”
– Fundraising and our upcoming activities
* How to donate (Japan and outside of Japan)
* Our plans to contribute to communities in the future
* Invitation to join our FB group World Matcha Forum
– Closing remarks

Matterhorn Tea Party in Switzerland

Guinness World Records? Tea making at 3883 meters!

My friend A-chan from junior high school came from Japan,
We decided to go to Zermatt to see the Matterhorn.
We decided to make tea on the way,
So, my first apprentice, Akemi, and I went to Zurich
We drove 4 hours from Zurich to Zermatt.

Usually, the weather in Switzerland is not as bad as it was this year.

The weather in Switzerland had been bad from April to June,
I was a little worried a week before the departure 😅.

But when I arrived there, I was surprised to see the Matterhorn clearly and distinctly.

I rushed up to the 3883 meter point by lift and gondola,
As I expected, the temperature was minus 😆.

We had no choice but to make matcha (powdered green tea) in the ice cave 🤩.

I have been to Zermatt many times, but this will be a memory I will never forget.
